A study of Dentist's perception of dental hygiene process of care

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to have an in-depth interview with dentists in order to provide a fundamental data for dental hygiene process of care about the thoughts of dental hygiene process care and necessity to put it into clinical practice so that dental hygienist can perform their duties as an expert.
Method: After explanation of this study, we conducted the questionnaire to those who accepted questionnaire from September 26 to October 28, 2017. In order to collect the data, Naver-form (mobile) questionnaire was distributed to the research subjects and the collected data. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) 24.0 program. The analysis technique was performed by calculating the frequency and percentage of the general characteristics of the subjects, occupational expertise, and dental hygiene process of care.
Results: Among the total of 56 research subjects, 48(85.7%) were male and 8(14.3%) were female. Dental hygienists’ acknowledgement of job duties of dental hygiene process of care ratio was as follows: 11(19.6%) said that they knew the dental hygienist’s job duties as ‘very much know’, 13(23.2%) as ‘some-what know’, 18 (32.1%) as ‘neither’, 9 (16.1%) answered ‘some-what don’t know’, and 5(9.0%) said ‘I have no idea’. The dental hygiene process of care’s necessity respond ratio was as follows: ‘very much necessary’ as 50.0%, ‘some-what necessary’ as 35.7%, and ‘neither’ as 14.3%.
Conclusion: The dental hygiene process of care is one of the methods to continuously manage the dental related patients. Recently, the patient management in the dental clinic has changed from the treatment of the disease to the active prevention concept for improving the quality of life related to oral health. And it(dental hygiene process of care) is considered to be a dental health care service that is very necessary for dentists because it continuously introduces oral health care program or preventive care program in clinical practice.
